Steger is a small south suburb of Chicago and is going down a bad road. The city officials do not spend money wisely and is in need of renovation. We need new thriving businesses, not more gas stations and bars. For three years Steger had a carnival with a concert for 3 days you bought tickets for. It was good for both the community and the economy of this small town. However these events were ended because there was no more funding. If the government officials were using monies correctly we would still be able to benefit from the fun of the carnival.

I grew up here without many issues, lived here my entire life so far and I have never really had a complaint. Quiet town and I know everyone around including police and fire personnel. Small and secluded town but really a diamond in the rough, lots of opportunity for everyone and very diverse.
Steger is a smaller town, with a smaller town atmosphere, but close enough to Chicago to still have a little hustle and bustle and the opportunities that come with that big city atmosphere. Steger encapsulates the best of both worlds. Steger has recently shown a commitment to public education through the rehabilitation and remodeling of the Eastview Elementary School into the Steger Intermediate Center. Steger is also changing and updating the local Sauk School into the Steger Primary Center. I am very pleased to see these changes occurring. I am also very excited to see how this trend towards education will continue to grow in the coming years. I would hope to see more funding and expansion in the local high school, Bloom Trail, and the Steger public library.
