There's not much for nightlife in Staunton, but it's historical small town charm is unparalleled this side of the Mason Dixon line. We're lucky to have such a vibrant, active downtown community and to live in such a beautiful setting! Did I mention we host the largest Harry Potter festival on the east coast ever September?

Staunton is a quiet town surrounded by beautiful country side in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. There small historical district with many local shops, museums, antique stores, restaurants, and the Blackfriar's playhouse (the world's only recreation of Shakespeare's indoor playhouse). The locals are friendly and often gather for a variety of events downtown and in the small parks in town. There is a real sense of community in town. It is not the cheapest place to live, and there is a real feeling of division between the different neighborhoods of the town though. There are many chain stores to the east of the town due to the interstate, and then lower income housing is in the west. The city council puts a lot of effort into maintaining the historical houses, but doesn't seem to put as much work into keeping the lower income families financially safe in their homes.
Staunton has a great hometown culture. There are great restaurants, eclectic shops, a wonderful art community featuring an award-winning glass-blowing shop, as well as a vibrant Shakespeare style theatre. Additionally, local music talent can be found on the weekends in the downtown area. The weekend farmer's market is amazing! There are several parks in the area as well as local vineyards nearby. Staunton also has its own baseball team! One of the things that makes Staunton a popular stop is that it's home to a famous country music group, The Statler Brothers!
