Downtown Stanley has a nice feeling to it. Most of the people are very nice with the typical southern charm, but there are a few groups that are not as welcoming. Very tight knit group. Stanley is very homey once you get used to it.
Stanley is a great community. The only thing I would change is to have a more events to get people out meeting each other..
Stanley, NC is a cute, small town. There isn't much to do, but it's the community that makes Stanley so great.
It’s a nice family oriented area. A nice place to raise a family almost like Mayberry where everyone knows you. Little to no crime.
I love living in a small town where everyone knows everyone. As a community, we always come together to help one another. We're like one big family.
It's truly a friendly place! When I first moved here I received a welcome basket which was new to me but I was appreciative.
I have lived in the Stanley Area since 1993 and i wouldn't trade my town for the world. Its a small community where everyone pretty much knows everyone and all the young people went or are going to school together. Nothing major really happens as far as crime which makes it a good place to raise a family. On the down side since the town is so small there is not many places to eat but don't worry Gastonia is about fifteen minuets down the road and there is plenty of places there. All in all it's just a nice rural town to raise a family and the high school football games aren't bad either.
Stanley is a small town with big city character. It's a place you can call home and a place you have find peace. Its a great place to raise a family and to get to know your neighbors.
Crime is virtually unheard of in this neighborhood. The general atmosphere is very safe, and people are comfortable.
There is very little diversity in this area. If it exists, it is well hidden. However, if you are a part of the majority, people are very friendly and inviting.
I am planning on moving as soon as I graduate college, but I do not hate the town.
This is the farthest thing from a tourist town I can imagine.
I do not have any specific comments regarding the public services in this area.
This city is protected by both the county police force, and by a very small city police force. There is still crime in the area, but it is rarely heard of.
This is not a very affluent town at all. There may be a few nice houses and developments here and there (one notable example being Creek Walk), however the vast majority of houses are average at best. There are many houses that look extremely close to falling apart, whether due to age or to mistreatment.
In a small town, everyone knows everyone, whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. In my personal experience, this town seems to be populated by two types of people. There's the type that is born here, raised here, and never sets foot out of this town until the day they pass on, and then there's the type that wants to leave as soon as they have the means to do so, possibly even before.
Many people in the area have either hourly wage jobs, or manual labor type jobs. These are all fine, but not the careers that I would choose for myself.
