Working in Standish
Cozy little town that offers many unique features for its size. Some being a golf course, great ice cream shop, taco stand, barbecue food truck, casino, and public access to Lake Huron. The main force that keeps Standish alive is the tourism. Being located on M-13 allows many people traveling to northern towns to have access to Standish causing much money and traffic during the holidays. This also explains the many car dealerships and mechanic shops within the couple miles that Standish is built on.
I grew up in Standish, and it's always been absolutely beautiful! The locals are wonderful and the businesses are super.
Living in Standish, MI is quite peaceful and frustrating. Low crime, good locals, and good schools make it a plus to living here. Unfortunately, while growing up here, there is nothing for local kids to do. There is a park, but it's the local elementary school's playground. There is a casino, but you can't enjoy that if you are under 18. Need to run to Walmart or a clothing store? You'll have to drive at least 25-30 minutes to get to the nearest "big city". While Standish does have its positives, it has too many negatives for teens.
