In Stamford, I liked the close community that comes with being a part of it. I loved the way that students, teachers, and any local person most likely already knows you just from association with other people, so new encounters or meetings of a new person aren't as awkward. I do not like the close minded views that this town is known for, as people are not very open for change around here. There is an immense lack of diversity within the area and I believe that it doesn't help the conservative views.
Having lived here the majority of my life, I suppose I can't view it cruelly; the surrounding nature is beautiful, and it can be quite a treat to have all four seasons. However, there seems to be a set quality of life here that is unlikely to change in the near future. Perhaps there's hope: I've been told that Stamford had once been considered a "Queen of the Catskills," and who knows, maybe one day it will rise again.
The town needs to be cleaned up a bit. It's definitely a tight knit community but some not so great things happen here. Some more community events would be nice to see where the community comes together.
