There are numerous local businesses, existing in the form of mainly restaurants (Shell's is a popular family-owned diner frequently visited) and small boutiques (Aqua B downtown). However, I believe there is a good balance between small shops and large companies such as Wal-Mart and stores at the mall.
There are job opportunities but they are mainly small, part time jobs unless one works in a specialized field such as medical. Most people range from teachers, retail services, or professional services.
