Pros:
• Downtown St. Charles is incredibly charming & picturesque
• Access to nature is plenty with hiking trails running the river as well / beautiful forests
• There is always something going on for a city this small!
• Main Street is so beautiful & safe to walk day or night
• The Missouri River!
• Has a very small town feel but amenities of a city
• Still cheap for the most part
• Glorious autumns & springs
• Great parks nearby
• Close enough to the city where driving to St. Louis daily is an option
• People here are very friendly & there is a strong sense of community
• Great colleges (In St. Charles and STL metro)
• So many small businesses!
Cons:
• A little too conservative for my liking
• Crime is a little high but much lower than most places in the metro area
• Compared to rest of STL, food is not very good
• Winters are… Rough (but beautiful sometimes)
• Like all of STL, there is racial tension
• Starting to get more expensive but much cheaper than most of the country

I am a female young adult who is married, has no kids, is renting, and has a dog. I love the area because not only is there so many things to do but there are lots of parks to take my dog. Renting is kind of expensive compared to where I am from (a smaller town in another state). But compared to so many other big city surrounding areas it is inexpensive! My husband and I never run out of things to do or places to eat. We don't even have to go in the city. Saint Charles is a safe area too. There are lots of other young people in the area as well because of Lindenwood University. Lastly, we love the closeness to St. Louis if we do want to go into the city for something fun. We are only about 25 minutes from downtown. Saint Charles is a GREAT place to live with a good school system, lots of jobs, fun things to do, great food options, and lots of parks. There isn't anything we dislike about our town!
I have lived in St. Charles for almost four years, and in St. Charles I will stay. For starters, St. Charles has everything you will ever need as a consumer. From easily accessible shopping centers, to a facility where you play dodgeball whilst driving bumper cars. Besides being an economic powerhouse, St. Charles has a fantastic culture and fascinating history to accompany it. The Streets of St. Charles are the place to be during the evening, as people come from all over the area to eat at great restaurants and enjoy activities such as going to AMC Theaters. Overall, St. Charles is a safe, fun, and growing city where the possibilities are endless.
