Beautiful town right on the river, with lots of family friendly things to do and town events, including festivals, parades, craft shows, art shows, water shows and car shows. Great school district. Scenic bike/walking paths that boast the best views of the river, the town and nature. Has a really great, up-to-date library. There is a small theater that has the best local plays. Also the Arcada is a beautiful old movie theater, that now hosts great entertainers and bands. And right above the Arcada is an new Speak Easy lounge, that is an experience unto itself!

With an amazing and booming downtown, the city of St. Charles has numerous activities for any kid, family, or adult to do. The town was rated #1 city for families in Family Circle's 2011 annual survey. Excellent education for students and many parks around town are perfect for the kids. The town has housing opportunities for all classes and job opportunities for anybody. St. Charles is also located in the perfect distance for day trips to Chicago, Lake Geneva, and the boarding states. I've lived here since I was in preschool. The town has a perfect friendly community for anyone and beautiful places to visit.
I have lived in Saint Charles, IL for 18 years and gone to all of the public schools. I went to Wild Rose Elementary, which is full of a wonderful atmosphere for the kids with balancing work and fun. I attended North High School which was a good school full of nice teachers. They highly value athletics within their community, but they have something for everybody. The community itself has numerous events throughout the year that are family-friendly such as Scarecrow Fest, which includes food vendors, local shops setting up booths, games, and concerts in the local park. This is a major attraction to people across the state because of its welcoming environment. Also, everything is fairly close based off of where I live in Saint Charles. Personally, I could walk into the main downtown area for lunch, or to the Pottawattamie Park.
