Having lived here for 20 years, I couldn't ask for better. Good public schools, safe streets, and a sense of community. 30 minutes from downtown. 5 minutes from the shops of Chestnut Hill. Brand new schools currently being built and bran new municipal buildings.
It’s a small town that wishes it were hip. They are competing with Media but they don’t have the stores, restaurants activities or diversity that Media does. On its own, it’s not a bad place overall but it’s very cliquey. If you grew up there, you’re good. If you move in, you may or may not ever be accepted.
I love growing up in Springfield. I feel that everyone in the area is connected in some way and everyone knows each other. As a community we support each other. Springfield is a very safe community. Id say the housing here is pretty nice, it is a very average suburb. Every individual in Springfield understands each other, I guess you could say it is a "delco thing" (delaware county.)
They are mostly mom and pop shops which are great that they are able to provide for their families. But to get to any main retailer (Target, malls, etc.) I have to drive 20 -25 minutes to shop.
The one large company in this area closed down, causing many to lose their jobs. Since most businesses in the area are small or family-owned, many had a very hard time finding a new job, if they were able to find one at all.
