I have grown up and have lived in Springfield Illinois my entire life. I have visited other cities for various reasons but am very glad that I can call Springfield my home. I have always felt safe in the public high school I attended. I am thankful for the Catholic education I received at Blessed Sacrament School. I love the fact I lived near Washington Park. There are so many things that one can do there, the Route 66 festival downtown, Blues and Barbeque, to the annual city basketball tournament. It has over 117,000 people yet seems like a small town. The news coverage is adequate n most things but very good on high school sports. Lake Springfield is great for boating and fishing or just enjoying a sunset. Its's not just a punchline of the cartoon show the Simpsons. It a real town that was great to be from!
Springfield itself is a pretty large city. Specifically talking about downtown Springfield, there are a ton of activities available. There is the Illinois State Fair which offers a variety of rides, food, concerts, and bars. It takes place every summer. In Springfield, we pride ourselves on Abraham Lincoln and the museum a great attraction. Downtown Springfield hosts events in different buildings, mostly concerts and parties. There are also a lot of homeless shelters and thrift stores in Springfield. I personally love Springfield as a city and I wouldn't want to grow up anywhere else.
I have lived in Springfield, Illinois since I was a kid there has always been positives and negatives. The one thing that I've learned is that if you stay out of trouble and to yourself you're most likely to make it out of Springfield. Springfield is a fun place during the summer. You have some main attractions like the Illinois State Fair. Some other attractions are the Knights action park and the veterans pool facility. During the winter time you have the festival trees where you are able to look at all of the decorative trees. Springfield is a very fun town.
