Security is the main thing. The police are always driving through the area. They sometimes leave their cars parked at different parts of roads throughout the evening. The area is quiet and very family oriented. It is easily convenient to freeways. It is a very safe place to live.
Other than the heat it's a great place to exercise. Access to gyms, clubs, workout groups and parks is unlimited wether your looking to workout in a public facility or a paid gym you've got tons of options. From a healthcare standpoint there are a number of urgent clinics, stand alone ER's and a medical center within five or so minutes and 20 minute access to one of the largest healthcare complexes (The Texas Medical Center) in the world.
While the area isn't a hot spot for late-night entertainment we are located very close to the areas of town that are, they're just not in our neighborhood which is fine with me. If we want to go out to eat or for a nice evening there are a few nice places in Spring Valley but the areas around us (Memorial City, City Centre, Town & Country, Uptown Park and the Washington area) are outstanding for casual to formal dining and entertainment.
