Spirit Lake is a nice little town that provides a caring community. I enjoy small town life because it is nice to get to know everyone. When I walk into the store or library, I am always greeted with a smiling face. The people are very nice and the town has nice spots where I can meet up with friends and family to grab a bite to eat or hang out. Unfortunately, there aren't many job opportunities here so I do have to drive over 20 miles to my job. The schools may be old but we pride ourselves on anti-bullying.
Everybody knows everybody, & the best people you will ever meet are in Spirit Lake. It's redneck in all the best ways. People drive to the store on their lawn mowers to get a case of beer. There's a parade for every occasion you can think of, which typically means people decorate their lawn mowers and drive them down Maine St. throwing candy. There are several small town festivals at the main park every Summer. Crime is almost non-existent, unless you count kids smoking at the skate park. There is one grocery store, and it's the kind where everybody knows you by name. Downtown is about one block of Maine St. which has an amazing coffee shop, some restaurants, a couple old fashioned saloons, & a few shops. The lake is great for swimming and boating in the Summer, or ice fishing in the winter. Coeur d'Alene is only half an hour away.
Spirit Lake so far has been a really nice town to live in. There are several coffee stands, coffee shops, restaurants, and most importantly, my high school is right next to a little grocery store called Millers. All of these have made my life during school very easy because I have places to go to de-stress after school and hang out with friends.
