It's a small town that's usually pretty quiet but comes alive in the summer and fall. We have concerts in the park, Sparta town and country days, our very own Celtic festival and moany more festivities that make this little town the place to be when the weather gets warmer.
I've grown up in Sparta my whole life. It's been quite an experience, but a great one to say the least. I have met my lifelong friends here and have had no problems in this town. One amazing thing is the community here. Sparta is on the smaller side, but because of that you will go out shopping in town and see multiple people that you know. Everyone in the schools know each other because we have all grown up together. If I had to change anything it would be to clean some areas around that may have trash lying around or plant some more plants and trees to make it even nicer.
Small town with lots of fun festivals and kids activities. Library that is very involved with multiple programs. A few stores, auto care, groceries, local only stores and restaurants. Just a joy to live here!
Going to school in Sparta is actually a very pleasant experience. The school district has amazing teachers that really care about their students and work very hard to help the kids succeed. The townspeople are generally very genuinely kind and accepting.
It's a very small town surrounded with farming. It's very conservative and people are very close-minded.
I love the small town charm. The people can be some of the most amazing people that you meet. I grow up here and even though times are changing fast, it still has that small town charm. It is growing bigger with additions of places, but it is beautiful. From the new splash pad in the park to the Apple orchards up on the ridge, there is something for everyone.
Sparta is wonderful small town in West Michigan with a real life to it. Things are simple but vibrant here. The town is very progressive socioeconomically, but retains the feel of something out of t.v. show.
Sparta is a nice quiet place to live. The people are pretty friendly. Plenty of parks and a few local places to eat. Sparta is also relatively close to downtown grand rapids and even closer to everything Alpine has to offer.
Sparta is a great community to raise your kids in. The public schools are good. The teachers there make it great. Our little village more then a community it is a family. Our village has over come some hardships these past couple of years. But we all banned together and get through it. Sparta may be a small apple village but it's home for a lot of good people.
I cannot fully express how much I love Sparta. I was raised there and lived in the village for 21 years. It is a very homey atmosphere and I never felt unsafe while I lived there. There are cute hole-in-the-wall stores and restaurants that I enjoy including Trini's and Sundaes at the Park. I enjoy the Town and Country Days (a festival) during the summer. Also, the school system was great! I personally graduated from Sparta and I must emphasize the fact that the teachers were always loving, passionate, and educated. Sparta is not far from Grand Rapids so grocery shopping and night-life entertainment is only 20-25 minutes away. Overall, I would not have chosen to be raised in a better community.
I love this town of Sparta, Michigan. It's small and you know almost everyone here. I went to school with the majority of the same kids from preschool to all the way to senior year.
THe snow removal is very speedy, as we are very used to harsh winter conditions. Everything is very timely except for filling in the potholes which grow during the frigid winters.
I would live here for the cleanliness and accessibility of nature and outdoors, but I am leaving in order to build connections in a more economically fertile area.
There are little opportunities for employment here. Those who have jobs usually knew somebody, and those who are employed are usually under employed. It's pretty bad. I'm moving out of state because of the diminishing opportunities.
The high school track is available to anyone at any time, which I use frequently. There are two fitness gyms, one dance studio, and a martial arts studio just within my little town. One of these fitness gyms are 24/7. The town itself has many parks someone could use to exercise in, and it is safe to run outdoors at practically any time.
The nature here is impeccably clean and the qualities of all parks are immaculate. Pollution is very scarce.
Houses are very old and expensive considering, but the water is very good and utilities aren't that expensive.
