Southport is a great place to vacation in. It's quaint, small, quiet, and very friendly for visitors. The heart of Southport is well taken care of however there are lots of areas in Southport that are not well taken care of and while they are getting a few more food options there's not too much to choose from if you're looking to be a full time resident. I lived their for a year and in the off season it's very hard to find places to go to that aren't more than a 30 min drive, so you'll have to become accustomed to revisiting the same places and expecting places to be closed when the owners find it convenient for them. I think it's a great place to visit but not to live in. The school systems are good but not the best and there's not a large community of young families so your children would be in a very small friend group. I grew up in a larger area and enjoyed having many different groups of friends from different areas so I would not want to raise my children in this area.

I love my small town so much! They have a great selection of restaurants, things to do, and scenery to look at! Our community is filled with wonderful souls that will help others no matter the cost. I couldn’t ask to live in a better town.
Southport is a small, peaceful town with Southern hospitality and charm. It sheds a light into what it truly means to be a community. Happiness and tranquility is part of the groundworks of this small historic district besides the ancient oak trees. With the beach, fine dining restraunts and history, this secrect cove in North Carolina's coast is being discovered where every year more and more people flawk here for the beach, Fourth of July parade or seeing the sights from Safe Haven it gives the small town a rush during the summer. Over all, its an experience to be able to live in a pure little town with an unique perspective on what it means to be community.
