Southfield is an AWESOME place to live! It is sometimes UNFAIRLY compared to Detroit. Southfield IS NOT Detroit and IS IN NO WAY similar to Detroit. Southfield is a different and BETTER world! It is safe, clean, beautiful, racially harmonious, thriving and peaceful. It is a multicultural suburb and the people who live here get along quite well and do our very best to give it there all to ensure that it is very well maintained in every way possible. I have lived in Southfield for the past 18 years and it is still the same beautiful amazing suburb it has always been. And did I mention our Police Department? The Southfield Police Department is THE BEST in the world. We LOVE our cops! They do not profile, practice or tolerate fascism. The only place I could imagine living other than Southfield is Grosse Ile, Beverly Hills, West Bloomfield Township or Farmington Hills! Southfield has been touched by the hand of God for sure. We are a VERY uniquely BLESSED community!

I love this city and all it has to offer! I have some of the best neighbors. There is a great deal of community pride. My family and I have felt welcome and accepted. I am glad I purchased my home here. Having neighbors you can rely on and volunteer to help one another is not something you see everywhere especially in some affluent communities listed as top places to live. I know it is important to know that your children can get an exceptional education. While Southfield schools lack in "test scores" and monetary contribution per pupil capita there are programs that are available to make up the difference. When parents make the extra effort to involve their kids in these additional resources you can see that these children soar like any other from the Bloomfield, Royal Oak, Troy areas. Best of all we are in the center of it all. You can get anywhere in the metro Detroit area in no time. There's some recent development in the area and it makes me smile to see growth and progress!
Southfield is a nice city for families. There is a community center full of opportunities for families to enjoy their free time. At the center you can sign up for numerous, affordable classes that teach various things. Southfield hosts many fun events throughout the year. You can find many parks and nature trials in Southfield. The Southfield Sports Arena includes an outdoor pool, indoor ice arena, and outdoor tennis and volleyball courts. Southfield’s library is one of the best in Michigan and caters to all age groups. Even older members of the family are considered as the Adult Recreation Center provides activities for those 50 years old or older.
