Great little town with excellent schools. A good compromise between a quiet suburb and access to amenities in larger surrounding towns/cities. Good access to the commuter rail line. The town itself is a bit homogeneous, but it is good to see that it is becoming a bit more diverse.
My experience with the town of Southborough has been mostly negative for several reasons. The first is that it is extremely homogeneous. Going to school, there were only 2 black children in my grade and a small handful of students who identify as Asian-American. The school also teaches to the system and discourages children from inquisition and thinking for themselves constructively through exploration. No free time is offered at the middle school level even though studies have shown the importance of outdoor activity for learning in the classroom. Finally, the downtown area has little-no resources. There is an overpriced market, a pizza shop, and a barber shop. Opening more stores could be a great way to expand job opportunities, however the town center has remained the same.
Southborough is probably one of the safest places to live in, anywhere. Great school system that sends a good amout of students to Ivy Leagues. A generally quiet town- everything is dead by like 8. Diversity is lacking as the town is over 80% white. As a Vietnamese and Philipino student, I was definitely the minority growing up.
