South Venice Florida is a unique mix of both calm retirement community and active nuclear family community. The area is home to thousands of retired folks from New York, New Jersey, and Michigan. It is also home, 6 months out of the year, to people form Canada, Germany, Russia, and Poland. This mix of people from different backgrounds makes south Venice a very interesting place to live and to make friends. Although most people are "snow birds" and prefer to visit during the cooler months, more people are actually choosing to live here. Due to people moving into the area, we have most of the shops, restaurants, parks, and recreational facilities that most people would find in a city. This makes it a good place for raising a family and for retired folks looking to stay active.

I moved to South Venice in 2002. At the time my daughter was 4 years old. Venice is a fantastic place to raise a child. The schools here are amazing & living so close to the beach certainly has it's perks. However, now on to what I would change........ Red tide! I hope a solution is found soon.
I like living in Venice because it is a quiet town, but it can also be dangerous because there is a large population of older adults who come down in the winter months who have a hard time driving and make the roads a dangerous environment to be on. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from, but the beaches are the best part!
