Legend has it, this area was used as ancient Indian burial grounds because of its unique ability to reject hurricane interference. Despite being right on the Gulf of Mexico the small city has been blessed with peaceful weather since Ive been alive to witness it. Gators and people alike bathe in the endless sun, enjoying superior Vitamin D levels and delicious orange juice.
South Venice Florida is a unique mix of both calm retirement community and active nuclear family community. The area is home to thousands of retired folks from New York, New Jersey, and Michigan. It is also home, 6 months out of the year, to people form Canada, Germany, Russia, and Poland. This mix of people from different backgrounds makes south Venice a very interesting place to live and to make friends. Although most people are "snow birds" and prefer to visit during the cooler months, more people are actually choosing to live here. Due to people moving into the area, we have most of the shops, restaurants, parks, and recreational facilities that most people would find in a city. This makes it a good place for raising a family and for retired folks looking to stay active.
I moved to South Venice in 2002. At the time my daughter was 4 years old. Venice is a fantastic place to raise a child. The schools here are amazing & living so close to the beach certainly has it's perks. However, now on to what I would change........ Red tide! I hope a solution is found soon.
