South Point is a great small community that is gradually becoming bigger with commerce. Most everything is centrally located and easy to get to.
Lack of activities, not the safest at night, local drama can overcome you, no job opportunities within city limits.
South Point, Ohio is a small town. That's what I love most about it. Everyone knows each other and it's like being a giant family. We're all so close and love to help each other out. It has a charm to it that you just don't see anywhere else. I would recommend anyone to move here.
I like South Point because of its proximity to neighboring cities of Huntington, WV and Ashland, KY while offering the small town vibes. Everyone knows almost everyone and life is simple but there is little job opportunity, things to do, or places to see in South Point itself. There are definitely some poorer and rougher areas of South Point than others but overall it is a decent place to live a quiet suburban life like I have for the past 14 and a half years.
Excellent neighborhoods and excellent schools. Not many businesses but has the greatest neighbors and a few good restrauntants.
I love South Point. It's a very family friendly place where everyone knows everyone. It has a lot of outdoor activities which keeps it exciting, and is overall a very relaxing place to live.
The place you live is all how you live and the people you surround yourself with. Moving from Florida to a small town was alittle bit of a shock, but the community does come together and stick together. I believe that alot of people do care about others, and give back to others. I have had alot of positive and negitive experiences, but realize that good things come to people who are patient. I do finally have a feel of comfort in my community, but its hard to meet people when everyone grew up together. Meeting people was the hard for me being a shy mom of three. I felt like an outsider for a long time, but I feel things coming together day by day.
Love it here but could use a good cleaning and getting ride of the druges. Needs more jobs. More parks for kids. More bus stops. Side walks would be great. Needs more thangs to do. There is no movie threaters here. No good jobs. Roads need work. Its a good comunate. Every one knows each other. I love that about here. My family all live here.
Police have responded slowly in my experience. I work at GameStop and had an Xbox One stolen one day. The police did not respond for hours. I also notice that officers are almost always speeding, which doesn't set a very good example. I have had a good experience as well, though. My car overheated so I pulled over onto the side of the road, and an officer pulled up behind me just to offer help. I thought that was very thoughtful.
The crime rate is low, and the lighting is good.
I love the area in which I live. The atmosphere is great I wouldn't be anywhere else.
In the area that I live in, the restaurants are the same chains and no big deal.
There are hardly any jobs available in the area that I live in.
the job market is horrible. very few min. wage jobs and even few jobs for those with higher education. unless you work in one of three markets ... health care (4 hospitals ), education ( 3 college/university), manufacturing ( 3 steel mills).
