South Lyon is a very quaint, tight knit community. It is safe and the schools are very good! It has alot to offer with it's proximity to many Metroparks and the expressway. Very close to Ann Arbor and other communities that allow for easy access to what they have to offer. Our downtown district has been improving slowly, but I would like to see many more improvements to the downtown infrastucture, so that others want to visit our community more often to bring in more commerce to South Lyon.
I have lived in South Lyon, MI for about 12 years now and it is such a great little town. There are a lot of new homes being built, so we are slowly growing. We have a great small downtown area with new arising local business. South Lyon has a wonderful school district and great people all around. As for the town as a whole, there are not many things to do for kids and teens. We have a bowling alley, a park or two, but other than that there is not much to do. The town needs more things for people to do and keep occupied with. There are a couple of local restaurants with pretty good food, but there aren't very many options. We have a ton of pizza places and fast food restaurants that aren't great all the time. We have 3 main grocery stores that are great!
It is a nice place to live, laid back, slow-moving, good place for family. Not very fast-paced, but has a nice downtown area. Moderately trafficked, commute is relatively convenient to Detroit, Ann Arbor, and greater South-East Michigan areas. A decent amount of restaraunts to visit. Various neighborhoods for growing a family. Rental properties are present, apartment complexes, neighborhoods, condos, and various other living setups. School district within a safe area, all surrounding areas are relatively safe and not much crime. Baseball ,basketball courts are present in nearby parks, walking trails are also accessible in all areas of the city. Nightlife is somewhat slow-going but there are a few places to get a drink from. Restaraunts are local places, not many chain restaraunts in the city, a few pizza places, ice cream places, and various other burger restaraunts.
