I’ve lived here since I was 8, I am now 23 still living here with my parents and brothers. I don’t see or hear of much crime in south holland but I live on the closer end of south holland by silting & the gas depot gas station and there’s always crime there! Other than that, I love how there’s always something fun to do, many parks, great library, clean neighborhoods and my neighbors are just wonderful. We occasionally have people move in and out of the neighborhood who don’t know what “no loud music” means. But the police do a fine job enforcing it once they are called.
I've lived in South Holland my entire life and my experience has been extremely positive based on multiple factors. South Holland is a great community where the village's primary focus is to provide sound education and family friendly events. In addition, providing a secure and safe environment is of the utmost importance to our mayor.
One thing I would like to see changed is the renovation of our downtown area that would attract more commercial establishments including small boutiques. Adding new venues and bringing the downtown area into the 21st century would be welcomed by the residents and potentially assist in lowering our property taxes.

My overall experience with South Holland has been very positive, as it relates to family, church and community. The village of South Holland is extremely family focused and has proven to show true concern for its residents. I've lived here for over 15 years and I've seen very little increase in crime but big increases in property taxes.
What I've enjoyed most about South Holland is the personal involvement of its leadership. A family friendly community center was established a few years ago and it has served us well by maintaining a focus on families. Regarding what I would change, well, needless to say, it would be a decrease in our ever increasing taxes and more attention given to the quality of education in our local high schools.
