I moved to south hill in august of 2018, live in a very quite neighborhood. My family is the only white family in the neighborhood and we love the neighborhood alot, everyone in our neighborhood makes us feel welcome. We moved here from richmond, huge difference compaired to the city. Only thing that has bothered us are the white males between the ages of 20 to 30. Rude and not friendly at all. Bunch of redneck drunks that are looking for trouble. I have lived all over the state, and this place is the only place i have lived that i feel uncomfortable around my own race, and feel welcomed by all other races of people that live in the area. We try to be friendly with anyone we encounter here, but we do not get that treatment from the young white males. Most of them are very racist. You can find them at the local walmart parking lot at nights. Everyone in the town is approachable, unless they drive a big muddy truck.

Even though South Hill is a very small town, the community around here is very acceptable. The positive thing about it is that there is barely any crimes being committed here. If you are looking for a house, the price is very affordable for your budget. However, what I disliked about South Hill is the lack of restaurants and shopping centers available other than Walmart and fast food places, such as: McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's. As for the school system, you can forget it. South Hill Elementary was fine, but as soon as you or your child goes to Park View Middle or Park View High, it is the opposite. Kids are not going to get the education they will need because most teachers either are not available during class to teach, or they teach, but they provide the materials opposite of what they are learning. In conclusion, South Hill is a decent place if you are retired or looking for a place to vacation, but not good if you're a family of four.
South Hill is full of people who know everyone. Although there are not a lot of teenage activities, there is a lot of love and kindness. And most importantly a Bojangles! Only the best chicken in the world. South Hill offers something that cannot be experienced in any city, South Hill remembers the passed, the future, the day. It also has a wide diversity.
