South Berwick is a fantastic town to live in! It is such a safe environment, and the school system excels! There is a lot to do with the family. Including parks, trails, libraries and so much more! It is a small little town, and it is a very close-knit community.

High taxes with not much to offer. Very boring town with opinated liberal residents. The town center needs a serious facelift. The housing market is expensive for houses that really don't offer much. No hardware stores, grocery stores fast food restaurants. Town code enforcement officer is lazy town hall is clueless. For what you pay in taxes in South Berwick, besides a good highschool which unfortunately has purple for a team color you don't really get what you pay for. The only good thing besides the school system is it's close enough to escape to other towns.
I love the small town feel of South Berwick. It's a community where people care about each other. Being from "away", no one has ever made me feel like I didn't belong. I've lived here for 25 years, and I've always felt welcome. The schools are terrific, and the teachers, parents, and community are very much a part of that success!
