South Bend Reviews
Rating 3.49 out of 5 364 reviews
I moved here in 2010 from Kansas and I would have to say that Indiana and South Bend have been great places to live. I have had great experiences here that I probably wouldn't have had in Kansas. I have been a student at Ivy Tech Community College in South Bend Indiana. I've earned several degrees from there and served in a variety of student government positions. When it comes to South Bend, there are countless career possibilities here, and always room to grow. I loved that South Bend has its own baseball team, the South Bend Cubs. Their games are fun for the whole family. There are also lots of great restaurants and places to stay. South Bend is also fairly closer to other cities that have tourist attractions.
I was born and raised in Elkhart, which is about 30-45 minutes away. Before I moved to South Bend in 2019, I remembered that people would always say South Bend was the not the best place to be at. Downtown was the worst. However, ever since I moved here, I have never had an issue of any kind. The people are kind. The police are 200% better than Elkhart. Not too much construction going on for years on end. One bad thing about South Bend that could be better would have to be the roads. They are horrible, depending on the part of town. The patchwork that is done to fix some roads, sometimes makes them worse or it's not done correctly.
South Bend is a mix of the past in a growing future. Driving through downtown you will see a mix of old buildings that represent the past industrial phase of the Studebaker company and the Oliver plow company but as you continue through you see new growth and innovation with budding companies. South Bend is home to the University of Notre Dame where you can find tailgates sporting events and other campus activities open to the public. The home of the Fighting Irish is a place where competition is fierce and loyalty is key. South Bend has family fun activities such as the Howard Park ice skating rink, multiple youth sports places as well as campus connections with ND and IUSB. South Bend is a mix of the historic in the future. Living in a place like this is both fun and adventurous.
