South Bend has a mix of beautiful architecture throughout the city--Art Deco, Gothic Revival, Queen Anne style homes and many bungalow and Cape Cod style homes from the 1940s.

River Park is an up-and-coming, walkable neighborhood with houses for sale that can accommodate almost any budget or taste. The main street has a maker space, a non-profit coffee house, a zoo (!) a library, and several other shops and eateries, specialty food stores, plus a fantastic farmers' market just west on Mishawaka Avenue that has been running since the early 20th century.

You could do much worse than to live here. River Park is affordable, relaxed and friendly, but with so many family-friendly activities either within walking distance or a short, ten minute-drive.

South Bend is a growing city. Throughout the years, there have been a few attempts to better it, and they somewhat work. The town has integrated lime-bikes, which are meant to help people in need of transportation. These are used for their purpose sometimes, but other times people take advantage of this offer. Also, the town is riddled with pot holes that can become pretty severe, despite a few efforts to correct them. Lastly, although this city is attempting to better itself, there is still a long way to go.
South Bend is now becoming very progressive. Our downtown and river front areas were desolate and depressing. Due to a great mayor and community support, my town is booming. New businesses and rental properties are springing up every where. The once crumbling streets have now been repaved and updated. I love my town again!
