South Bend Reviews
Review South Bend
I have lived in this city my entire life and I must say some of my best days were spent downtown at the Gus Mackers, The Ethnic Festivals, Walking the east race or just enjoying seeing the sun hitting the Golden Dome on Notre Dames campus. I can't forget the Four H Fair and the south bend chocolate factory. YUM! Coming to south bend will give you an earnest feeling of being in a big city with a country atmosphere and setting. With that being said the city has suffered from careless acts of violence that has endangered as well as took the life of Innocent people. Don't get me wrong I know that violence is every where and all but here in this city where everybody should be grateful to feel the warmth and family like atmosphere that tries so hard to flow through good ole South Bend.
South Bend is an improving city that is building a robust technology presence, and simultaneously creating exciting employment opportunities for local residents. Mayor Pete Buttigieg has done an excellent job reviving the city. Still, South Bend lacks a sense of safety at times, especially at night - my home itself has been broken into multiple times. Downtown South Bend has a variety of options for nightlife and the arts, as well as a very impressive hospital, but there are still several vacancies and dilapidated buildings that detract from the visual effect. With that being said, the improvements in infrastructure have improved commute time, which used to be frustratingly slow. Finally, real estate valuations in several areas are extremely strong, and will likely only improve going forward due to the influx of new technology jobs likely to hit the area.
Born and raised here, moved back a few years ago. Community is pretty friendly, lots of things to do downtown with the city. Renovations and new construction makes for new opportunities coming!
