Overall, very good area. The main problem with Somerset is the same as with every high population density area in NJ- sky high property taxes! Unfortunately, the population of Somerset is only increasing so the property taxes are only going to continue increasing. The only other 'complaint' that I have with the area is a minor annoyance more than anything. I'm a movie buff, and the main movie theatre in the area is Regal on Rt 1. At any given time, the majority of movies shown at this theatre are Bollywood films. A non-Bollywood film has to be a mega-blockbuster in order to make it on the list of showings. There have been critically acclaimed movies that I haven't been able to see because Regal isn't showing them anywhere on their 16 screens.
The neighborhoods seem quite neat and clean but not too neat and clean. The people seem nice for the most part There are a bunch of accidents here and there but it isn't that much compare to some other places and I've never been in an accident. My high school might not be one of the best, but it's still a work in progress and the diversity is pretty great. I like most of my teachers even though a few of them don't really teach the lessons that well. Based on what I have seen and heard, the jobs don't seem incredibly bad either. There are some schools and stores nearby. Most posters and stores are family friendly.
Somerset is a very lively, diverse, and family friendly area. In this area you will always have something to do, ranging from going to the movies, rollerskating, or out to eat. This suburban environment deals with little to no crime. The streets are always clean with a minimal amount of traffic when commuting to and from work. People of all races, religions, and cultures live in Somerset. it is definitely one the most diverse areas in New Jersey where diversity is rare.
