I love the bike path . It is great for walking or riding a bike with family . Fall is beautiful here . People are friendly and warm. The board walk is family friendly for relaxing and social events . The town is close to the beaches . An hour away from Philadelphia . You can take the New jersey transit for a day trip.
I like the tranquil feel of Somers Point, even though it can be busy it does not feel provide me with feeling of being overwhelmed. I appreciate the easy access of the stores and produce places. It caters to small and local business and that tell me it believes it I take people and will support both the local entities and the conglomerates. The schools are good in the area as someone of color I feel welcomed in the community. I appreciate presence and the response our service providers (police, fire, paramedics). It’s a place that I would recommend to visitors and people who are considering a potential relocation.
It is small but a great little town. There is plenty of stuff to do in and around somers point. It has amazing little diners and is a great lac to stay for vacation. There is also a small beach and is perfect if you love fishing.
Overall, Somers Point is a great place to live. We are close to the beaches without the “beach town” price.
Somers Point is a very diverse town with a lot of friendly people. The town also presents a lot of job opportunities around it. The police force is also very friendly and always willing to help. The schools are a great place to get an education and surround yourself with role models who are the teachers.
I’ve lived here for 17+ years since I married my husband. We have 4 kids and all 4 are going through the public schools. It’s a safe, diverse, active town with good people. The bike path and the pedestrian side of the bridge to Ocean City are some of our favorite destinations for biking. We love our church, and all of the activities that are involved in the town throughout the year. We are very thankful to live in Somers Point.
I feel that there is nothing really special about Somers Point. The public school system in this town is certainly poor.
Somers Point, NJ is a nice town located only 2 miles from Ocean City, NJ and only a few miles from Atlantic City, NJ. It has almost everything that you need it food stores within a mile or two from almost anywhere you live in the town. It has nice town bars to enjoy your nights, and plenty of restaurants as well. The winters are a little bit slower than it is in the summer, but that is natural because almost all of south jersey is a tourist location for the summer.
Somers Point is a short distance from beaches and summer recreations. Mainland Regional High school is a good school for high school age children but the elementary schools are lacking.
The overall experience of Somers Point New jersey, as first known as Somerset Plantation is a very small savvy town. You can tell this by the fact that at a time there was 4 Wawas, just 10 miles away from Atlantic city; which doesn't have any Wawa stores. Somers Point has 3 different elementary schools, with 7 big apartment complexes spread throughout the town. The town has a football team named the sharks that I cheered for from taxi to varsity. With everything and then some there are two main shopping centers with stores such as shoprite, acme, kmart, 5 below, dollar general, pet smart, starbucks, applebees and many more. If i had to do it all over again I would choose to live here again, because you aren't too far from anything needed. Somers Point has a very low crime rate compared the city of AC just 10 miles away. With a small bay area, a big park named after JFKennedy and the parkway easily accessible to the public; What Somers Point is missing is more activities for the children such as an arcade, or an indoor place to express skills just as painting or tech savvy acknowledgement. There is an annual Bay fest that has activities for all ages so i feel in the future the town will come together to create something that last all year round.
There are pretty of nice houses on the beach, as well as plenty of medium range houses in great locations. The community has a few apartments that are nice to live in and a few hotels and motels if you want to just stay the weekend. Overall, living is pretty acceptable.
People usually stay in the area their whole lives, the community has fairs and parades about once every two months. Somers Point is very close to Ocean City, but you don't have to deal with the non-locals as much. It has its own little public beach which has beach concerts in the summer. Also, we experience all four seasons pretty normally; cold snowy winters (not too much snow), spring and autumn and a not too hot summer.
There's never any big trouble in town. Just a few minor and typical cases. Car accidents seldom happen and houses are rarely robbed. Some parts of town may appear shady but are really more misunderstood. There is a bike path and side walks and crosswalks all over to provide optimum safety for pedestrians. Additionally, the schools are always monitored by cameras, but nothing bad ever really happens in them in the first place.
There is a very strong sense of community in the area. Neighborhoods generally get together, more often in the summer, for barbecues and parties.
Due to the closing of many casinos in Atlantic City, most people in the area are currently unemployed. It seems the job market in the area is rapidly declining.
There are a lot of options for bars and restaurants in the area. However, most of these places are very similar in food options and price. There is a lot more variety only a short distance away in Atlantic City, if you are willing to drive out that way.
I have no fears of crime in this area. I hear about crime very rarely in this area. Police are always present in the area, making me feel safe.
