It can be pretty quiet in my hometown of Soldotna (or Slowdotna, as some people instead call it), but it isnt without its charms. The summers, I think, are the best time to come visit. Besides the fantasitc fishing game, the reason so many tourists come to visit my small little town of 4,000 is the amount of beauty that Alaska holds. The immense mountains, the multitude of trees, the freshest of air, the family of moose that eat your pumpkin on your porch every Halloween, are all the reasons I love alaska. The winters, too, are equally great. It's still cold, as a winter should be, but never really below -10°. Today, in November, it's -1°. If I were to complain, it would be nice to have an actual mall or something. However, Anchorage is a short 2 hour drive away which is considered the "big city".

Soldotna is a typical small town, but has plenty for businesses. Great growing residential areas, and great schools. The Kenai River flows right through town, but isn't on the coast like Kenai, so it is typically less windy in Soldotna.
Absolutely beautiful landscape, very small town in terms of population but this can be a positive aspect. Fishing is fantastic in the summer along with the sun that never seems to set in the summer months.
