I love the location we live in, however our road on first street leaves a lot to be desired. We have been here for 6 years and there has never been a new surface put on the road. It is very busy with the baseball field traffic, I think it could be taken care of much better.
Reaction time of policemen and firemen in the area is great. There are many local fire companies that have extraordinary volunteers. I believe the local representation is good as well as the state representation.
Many people who live in Tyrone throughout their lives never leave. The community is very friendly and everybody knows everybody else. It is easy to depend on your neighbors. Everyone has pets and is there to look after one another. When community events are occurring, people are usually there to lend a helping hand. I have grown to love the town and community and probably will stay here forever.
The largest even in this town is definitely Hoopsfest. This is Central Pennsylvania's largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament that brings thousands of people from nearly 10 different states together for one Saturday in July. Right outside of the town, about 3 miles down the road, is Delgrosso's Amusement Park. This family-friendly amusement park is a huge summer attraction.
One of the main perks of the town is a park along a reservoir, Reservoir Park. The area is an attraction for all ages including outdoor swimming to fishing to playground equipment and picnic pavilions. It is a great place to have events and just fun in general.
There are many affordable houses in the area. The worst houses are located in the downtown area due to being both a busy area and close quarters. The outskirts of town have many large, beautiful houses that may have higher costs than the houses in town.
This area is not very diverse. Mostly everyone knows everyone else so people here are generally friendly and always ready to lend a helping hand.
There are only small businesses in this area, other than the one popular gas station and candy factory that do well.
There are not many good job opportunities in this town. Most people drive either fifteen miles south or twenty five miles east to their jobs each day.
