Smiths Station is a great warm hearted town, overall great community and fantastic mayor. It’s now on the move towards a modern age and growing economy. This community always comes together for any and everything no matter who it’s about or what’s happening. This community as a whole always has an open heart. I’ve been a resident in many different areas of Smiths Station and my experience has always been lovely. By no means is Smiths Station a big fancy city like Atlanta or perhaps Birmingham, but it’s the perfect hometown. The school system is also great. Being only supported by county funding it provides perfect spirit and support with quality education and an awesome social life providing many students in every school. Smiths Station will always be home and I wouldn’t change that for anything.
The whole town feels like it’s a bit of a parody. If only they would consider actually adding nicer businesses. It just isn’t a place that represents Alabama in a good light. Rather, it reinforces the stereotypes that we’re known for. It would be nice if they focused more on having stricter zoning codes for the trailers in the area. They just really degrade the curb appeal and it would be an excellent start to making the city look more attractive. I guess the one positive that I can think of is the pharmacy run by Ms. Flournoy. She does an excellent job and her business looks very tidy and is a bright spot in the area.
I like the amount job opportunities for young adults and adolescents Smiths Station provides. There are plenty of businesses high school students could choose to establish employment. Smiths Station lacks diversity. I would like to see more diversity in Smiths Station. There needs to be sense of community in a town, and I feel as if Smiths Station lacks that in some ways.
