They have great community events for holidays, a family-friendly public pool that is close to the elementary school, with a tennis court, volleyball beach court, and basketball court. Plenty of outdoor room and feel very safe.
Great atmosphere and neighbors are very friendly! One thing to fix is to add sidewalks and repair the roads.
I love and always have loved living in Sleepy Hollow. It is quite literally the perfect stereotype for a safe little town. The people are genuinely nice, the neighboorhood is very safe, and the overall atmosphere is very cozy. While there most definitely are better towns to live in, Sleepy Hollow has always been my home, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
I have lived here my entire life and I love the neighborhood. I don't think I could have chosen a better place to live in my childhood and teen years. It is such a quiet and safe neighborhood, and there are so many events for the town to get together and celebrate during the holidays.
Sleepy Hollow is a great, safe neighborhood. This where you can watch your children grow up with out being worried all the time.
In Sleepy Hollow you will experience all four of the seasons. Winter being the most extreme of course. Like any other state that gets snow, the roads get icy and wet and slippery. The streets are plowed almost immediately after snowfall, which is great when people need to get to work and school. You'll definitely need winter attire, such as a warm coat, hats and gloves and of course boots. School does get cancelled quite often, but not because of the snow. They usually call school off because of the cold temperatures. Natural disasters are extremely rare in Sleepy Hollow. Living there for 12 years we would have tornado warnings but I never experienced anything else. Rain does come and go and can get bad, and you could see a bit of flooding.
Because there are so many places to work, job opportunities are always available. Restaurants are always hiring new hosts and servers, and the big companies like Walmart and Jewel Osco are always hiring too. There are also multiple school districts in such a small radius, that teaching opportunities are always open.
Where I used to live in Sleepy Hollow was very close to local stores, and big companies that you'd see across the U.S. You would only need to drive about 10 minutes to the farthest Walmart, but the closest drugstore is only 5 minutes away! What's really great about Sleepy Hollow, is that the surrounding cities are also only a few miles away. These cities also have big companies, so if you're looking for something that is out of stock in the local store near you, you could call a neighboring city and check their local Target or Walmart. There are some small shops but majority of the places you see near Sleepy Hollow are big time companies.
