This town is about as big as my pinky toe. It is very run down and old, and you can normally find at lease three people strung out on drugs in the middle of the town. The public school district in this town is horrible, though its sports, and music/theatre programs are spectacular compared to the area. You can also find some rare treasures in this town such as little trails and hiking paths. Overall, there is not much to do in this small town, and its not the most safe area to be. If you're thinking of moving here, just know that you will be exposing your kids to drugs everywhere, and they will not receive a quality education.
I moved to Slatington from Fort Lee, NJ 12 years ago and I enjoy living here. Slatington is a family friendly place. The crime is declined, there's churches, history, eateries, public parks etc. Plus, its known as the "Slate Capital of Pennsylvania." There's also Shady Nooks and The Shack with entertainment and eateries as well. There's always something to do. The taxes are very low!
I love Slatington. The people who reside here are super friendly, warm, and down to earth. They create a family environment within the town. I can take a walk with my pet or children and feel safe in our neighborhood to the nearest park. Washington Township is always clean and the parks as well. Lehigh Gap Nature Center is incredible and settled on the Blue Mountain. They have a dog park. They have frequent family events! Fun place to live!
