Skiatook is a small suburb town with a country, down home feel. People are friendly and always lending a smile or a hello. You don't have to look far to see people lending an extra hand or going the extra mile to brighten somebody's day. Living in Skiatook has many benefits, such as the beautiful landscape with the lake nearby. I gave a 4 instead of 5 star rating because of problems with taxing and cost. The electricity grid is so outdated that a simple gust of wind will knock it out. Think hot summer days with food in a freezer going bad. Taxes here are a whole 1.5% higher than the neighboring, larger city of Owasso, which is less than 20 minutes away. Due to this, Skiatook loses a lot of business and it is nearly impossible for new stores to take hold. All in all, Skiatook is a great place to live and visit. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends, family, and strangers!
