Sioux Falls, while in South Dakota, doesn't feel like it is in the state. I mean that in the best way possible! As a college town and growing city, it feels like it is just beginning its process into becoming a mini Minneapolis, which I'm glad to be in on the journey. The people here are kind (even if there are some pretty awful drivers), the food options keep getting better every year, and the vibes are much better than anywhere else in South Dakota. Sioux Falls has certainly been a joy.
Sioux Falls is started to expand drastically. The culture and sheer size of the town is extending its reaches to some of the smaller towns it’s borders. Growing up, there wasn’t a lot of activities in comparison to other places I lived. However, it’s way more family oriented with the way jobs pay fairly, rent is cheap, and strong neighborly bonds. What I feel it could work on the most is having more child friendly activities that don’t cost an arm and a leg like the sprinkler park they have. All in all, I love the town I grew up in and hope it continues to improve its values, communities, and lifestyles. Thank you!
Sioux Falls is the largest city in South Dakota with continued growth. The downtown runs along the Sioux River and is the highlight of the city. It has many boutique shops, restaurants, banks, city buildings, and the famous Falls Park. But, the downtown also has a very stinky slaughterhouse, the county jail, and the hazardous waste disposal. Outside the downtown is where the poorest residents reside. The farther out from the downtown one goes, the more expensive the income and housing becomes. There are several major roads that cross throughout the city and along which all the major businesses reside. Near these businesses is lots of concrete, parking lots, and fast moving cars making it pedestrian unfriendly. The city has many parks and a bike trail that wraps around the city. The schools and colleges generally have high grade and test averages, but are often overcrowded. There is also a growing lack of housing. Lastly, there is a very strong push for corporate expansion and growth.
