Nice scenery, but the people vary. Many are friendly, but there are a lot of racists in this town, especially within the school system. I speak on experience, and I definitely don't recommend Silverton public schools. They put profit over people and tend to dismiss many issues students have.
The perfect small town feel with big town amenities. This town has the perfect downtown, every store you can need. But it is not large enough to be loud or busy.
Good places to go fishing as well as hiking through silverfalls on the trails. Their is also good hunting oppurtunities
I grew up in this town, and it is very nice, but the housing is way to expensive, and that needs to be fixed.
Great Place to live. Definitely the most desirable and safest place to live near Salem. I specifically chose to invest here due to this.
This place is not for those who hate gossip and nosey folks. I have felt as if I can't breath in this town without someone saying something awful about people. Too much conservatism and way too Mayberry. Nice to visit but you start feeling trapped with all of the underlying negativity.
Silverton is a beautiful place . But unfortunately the town is not welcoming, the people are mostly full of themselves and their is a great sense of community. But only to those who have been here generation after generation. If you are not from Silverton you are not welcomed. My daughter spent her last 2 years at the high school and never felt she fit in. The taxes are high, the traffic is terrible and the handful of stores and restaurants are mediocre. The worst thing is that everyone from there can't tell you enough about how great it is. The reality is very different and I would definitely not choose to live there! Cute, trendy hipster/ small country town. But a much uglier picture underneath the surface.
Silverton is a small town not far from the capital of Salem, Oregon or an hour drive to Portland. It offers local produce, wine, Oregon Gardens, and hiking Silver Falls.
I have had the experience of moving to Silverton high school and have felt very welcomed. I would like to see a change in the road conditions and saftey
Silverton Oregon is a gorgeous little town. It's home to Silver Falls, an astronaut, and it's very own dog. People are very kind and welcoming here. It's a great enviroment for education, and freinds.
If you like gossip and everyone up in your business, this is the place. The description says that this is a conservative leaning town. That could not be further from the truth. I have lived in small towns before and never have experienced the gossip and BS politics more than I have in this town. We are also getting lots of spillover of transients from Salem. It’s going downhill quick. There are some good people in this town. But less good then bad. Can’t wait to move.
I have lived here in Silverton for about 4 years now, and I absolutely love it. I personally have experienced wrong doing of others here, but I hope we can better our knowledge and safety around that specific topic.
Silverton has grown a lot since I moved here five years ago. The traffic in the mornings is too much and housing is really hard to find. Its a great community, but it's great because we are a small town and need to keep it that way.
Great place for a family but expensive to live in. Has alot of activities for families, especially in the summer time. People are generally friendly but has its mix of racially biased individuals. Close to good hikes and fishing. Very walkable in town.
Silverton is INCREDIBLE! Such a beautiful country town, whose community is so family centered. There are so many fun activities and parades that happen monthly. Everyone is so friendly and kind.
I love the small town community and how beautiful it is. I love how I can walk wherever I need to in town. While it can be a little overwhelming to have to drive all the way to Salem to buy some things, like clothes, there's something charming about taking a day trip to the "Big City".
Silverton is a wonderful small town (ish) community. There are numerous quant shops in the downtown area, and the city has a very laid-back atmosphere. There are many places to relax and watch people go by; many nooks to have a cup of coffee and chat with your neighbor. One prominent highlight for Silverton is that it is close to Silverfalls State Park, and you can find many locals who enjoy heading up the road and enjoying the trails and waterfalls there.
