We have lived here for 12 years and put 3 kids through the schools here. The area has changed a lot in the last decade. The infrastructure is now overloaded (roads, schools, grocery stores) due to massive unplanned growth. Safety and affordability are headed in the wrong direction. The county does not care to address the major increase in road noise after opening 132nd to Highway 9. If you would like to enjoy the many trails through the area you will have to watch out for broken glass and drug paraphernalia. The schools are more concerned with what's politically correct than giving our children a solid education based on asking questions and critical thinking. This place used to be beautiful and peaceful, which I loved. If you are looking for an "urban suburb" then this area is probably for you.
I've lived in the Snohomish area for as long as I can remember and I cannot think of a better area to grow up in! I live right by the park so in the summer it's fun to spend time outdoors and the outdoor movies are always wonderful. The school district is simply one of the best--the teachers and students are incredibly nice and supportive. The only drawback is that because Snohomish is so small, there aren't many things to do. People in Seattle, Bellevue, or other large cities can walk to town or the mall, but in Snohomish we usually just drive to Everett or Woodinville. However, being in such a rural area does mean we are relatively safe.
Exceptionally beautiful and safe area. One of the best suburbs in the Greater Seattle/Bellevue area!
