I have lived in Shorter, AL all of my life and I must say that I have not seen much innovation in the area. There is a lot of unused land and the only area that has seen area development is near the interstate exit, where they now have 3 new restaurants, a gas station and a Dollar General. Other than that there is not real innovation as far as the schools or internet which is required everywhere nowadays as the world and technology grows. The area I live is pretty quiet at times but I do have some very inconsiderate neighbors that like to blast loud music with no regards about the elderly and children that live in the small area we live in. It can get very annoying as its constantly done everyday and when you inform the authorities about the noise, nothing is done about it. I'd say its pretty average on where to live all and all but if your looking for better options in progression, I'd look somewhere else.
I recently moved to this town with my family, and while it is in the middle of the country, I do like it here. This area is quiet, besides the occasional train, with wide open space, and virtually no crime. Animals in the area consist of mostly cows and horses, which could end up in your backyard. Everyone here is kind, just trying to live their life.
Shorter is a small town with alot f wonderful people. I am so glad I was raised here. I love the country atmosphere . If I had to change anything am bout it, it would be the environment. I would have more businesses here. More business means more money coming into the town of shorter.
