The employment in this area is great, but it takes hard work and persistence to get a job that pays well. I personally believe that everyone in this area is perfectly capable of getting a well paying job because of the great opportunities here. The job outlook is mostly natural gas, oil rigs, coal mining, nursing, military, or law enforcement. A majority of young women are going into nursing and most young men are choosing to go into the military. Unfortunately due to the current views regarding the law enforcement issues in other states, the likelihood of a young adult choosing that field is dropping rapidly. Some of the top employers are Arch Coal and Dominion Gas, which are coal and natural gas companies. Thank you for your time.

The weather in this area has a good amount of normalcy and can be quite predictable. There is snow almost every winter and severe snow storms that come almost every couple of years. The fall is absolutely beautiful because of the magnificent colors and tones of the trees. The fall and winter often call for long sleeves and jackets, but specifically for the winter thick boots and gloves. The icy roads may also call for new snow tires every year, going without snow tires in an absolute no. Natural disasters rarely occur, but mostly when it does happen it has to do with lack of gas, a coal mine collapse, or a natural gas leak.
Crime rates are low in this area as far as burglary and shootings go, but drugs are a huge problem here. The kids in schools are getting drugs easily if they try and other students are their suppliers. The area itself is safe, but the attitude towards weed and other drugs is too laid-back. We need to do make drugs searches in school more frequent and random because word is getting to students before the searches even happen. Police are always driving through and past our town and towards the center of the town there is a police station.
