I have lived in Shinnston, West Virginia for all of my life. It is a quiet and quaint town where everyone seems to know everyone, which is acquired taste for people to actually enjoy to the fullest. However, I would not choose to grow up anywhere else.
A few take pride in their homes, you can live here modestly safe, but most homes are in need of repair like most commercial buildings, buildings in town are falling down, one even collapsed. The population has been slowly falling since the 80s... the elementary’s are great, the middle/high school are decent... to many troubled youth and staff without answers. The town overall like most of WV isn’t progressing, stuck are coal thats dead/dying. If no changes Shinnston may drop to 1,500 residents by 2030.
I like how Shinnston is quiet and there isn't much trouble around the neighborhood. Although, if you're a bigot and you blame everything that happens on immigrants, minorities, and women , then West Virignia is the State for you.
