Shelbyville Reviews

Currently, the city is being remodeled and the parts that have been redone look very nice! However, the remodeling disrupts traffic and has been going on for a long time now. I love the history aspect of Shelbyville, as there are many buildings that are historical and hold much significance to town members. The architecture of these buildings is especially neat- it gives the whole city a very old, neat look! I do wish there were more places where kids could go to have fun, though, like an ice skating rink or a roller skating rink. For example, there’s not much for kids to do after a football game or on a Saturday except go out to eat!
It’s a very nice town with a population of around 20,000 - 25,000. There aren’t many activities for teens though, the movies, food places, and that’s about all. Shelbyville does has a deep family history resulting in many families knowing many other families. The town “oval” remodel was a really nice touch.
The main thing to do here is take the 15 minute drive to the casino to blow your hard-earned money. Downtown area could use a bit of work; it’s just really bland. Actually, that’s a good way to describe Shelbyville as a whole: bland. It seems like a decent place to raise a family, so there’s that. Honestly though, I’ve had property stolen from me when I lived here and know people whose cars got broken into, so it’s not like this town is a complete safe haven either. Schools seem alright as far as I can tell, the town leans conservative, and all the young people here want to get out. In the end, Shelbyville is just a mediocre midwest town.
