If you like small towns, Shelbyville is a good choice. With Lake Shelbyville nearby, it draws a large summer crowd looking forward to visiting the beaches, boating, fishing, and camping. Shelbyville is also centrally located between several major metropolitan areas, so with a couple of hours of driving, you can visit Chicago, St. Louis, or Indianapolis.

We have a Wal-mart and a County Market for grocery shopping. We have Johnston's Mall which is a strip of businesses that include County Market, Ace Hardware, Dollar General, and a Gym at the end. For restaurants we have a subway, Chapalas which is a Mexican restaurant, Yen Ching which is Chinese, Druby's which is a family owned fast food place. There is a DQ and a Mcdonalds and a very nice steak restaurant called The Longbranch. For the most part you can get everything you need here. If you interested in going clothes shopping however, then you will have to go to a bigger town.
International Paper is the highest paying job in Shelbyville. It is a factory job. We have a couple nursing homes and a hospital if you are in the nursing field. We also have a Wal-mart and fast food places for the people that have little or no education.
