Shelbyville is a very nice town to live in. It's quiet. Our neighbors are nice. The city manager is awesome. If you have an issue they are on it that day or the next day. You can't junk up your yard with trash or leave your trash can at the street. They will leave a friendly notice on your door, after that they will collect your can if it's still at the end of the street. You will need to call the city to get your trash can back. Ask a neighbor to bring it for you. They will. Utilities are cheap & your trash is figured into your low monthly water & electric, all in one bill. We had some low hanging wires over our driveway. I called public works and they got those wires up higher. There's been no crime here that I'm aware of. Those website are trying to sell you a report. I live in the dark blue zone. Ask anyone, they don't give out tickets. Judge Bobo is the nicest guy!! Lots of rehabbing here as well. The water tastes better & the air is cleaner. That's why people commute from here.
Shelbyville is a cute small city in middle Tennessee . Full of all different kinds of people . It’s a growing city and I am seeing it grow before my eyes. Unfortunately , city members don’t make the best decisions on how it’s expanding . Example; they made a decision to take down a restaurant and replace it with yet another car wash . The county also prioritize a jail other a new school . As mentioned , Shelbyville is a small city , but that is not stopping the prices on homes and every thing else essential to sky rocket . In order to afford a home and maintain a good living in this town residents have to travel from 30 mins or more for a higher paying job . Shelbyville is a nice and clam town that definitely needs work. Because of the inconvenience of higher prices for essentials I see people struggling to keep jobs and afford homes . The percentage of drug use and homeless people has increased in the past five years .
Overall, Shelbyville is a nice, small town. Unfortunately most residents have long commutes to work due to limited employment in town. I would definitely like to see more venues for entertainment and food.
