Sheffield is a beautiful small town in the Berkshires, where everyone knows each other. I have several family members who are politically involved in our town. Sheffield has had some recent tragedies, and the community has come together to support each other. Our school is in a regional district that provides to four other towns, but the student body is still very small. Our geographical location is convenient, because we are equal-distant from Boston and New York City. Sheffield is a very nice place to live, and I would recommend it to people looking for a small town.
Sheffield is a wonderful place to grow up. It is rural, very safe, and very picturesque. Most people know and like their neighbors. The public high school has fewer than 300 students, and has wonderful teachers who know and really care about each of their students. Sheffield is located in the southern part of the Berkshires, an area well known for its rich culture. Sheffield has a long history of its own and people often come to visit the Colonel Ashley House, which was the home of enslaved African American Mum Bett Freeman. Mum Bett successfully sued for her freedom, and helped end slavery in Massachusetts. Sheffield has a quaint town green and people may be seen chatting in front of the post office at all hours of the day. The town has somewhat of a Norman Rockwell feel to it and I am very grateful I had to opportunity to grow up in such a wonderful idyllic place.
It is very isolated. No diversity
