- Town in Oklahoma

Shawnee is a smaller town that continues to grow. It is a very diverse and promising town. What I love about Shawnee is the motivation the community has to creating opportunities and starting programs to benefit society. I would like to see Shawnee grow as a town and redo rub down areas in order to attract more people. I would also like this town to build a target and panera bread.
Half the population is homeless, the other half is on opioids. That being said the actual issues in town that need fixed are never fixed but they’ll harass widowed old women living on social security over small city ordinance infractions. Town is run as well as a Trump casino.
Shawnee has grown a lot in recent years. New businesses and activities for familes! I like visiting Shawnee!
Shawnee is a fantastic place for a young family to live. There are so many open ended opportunities for those looking to start their lives on a good note. I love living in Shawnee and getting to enjoy the atmosphere it offers everyday. I am blessed to be surrounded by such nice, hardworking people. I work, go to school, and live in Shawnee and I have for 17 years. My parents started their family in Shawnee and I believe the town did nothing but help them succeed as parents.
Nearby resident but do all my business as a student in town. Generally pleasant but much to improve on in terms of the homeless population, diversity and inclusion, and for the environment.
Shawnee has invested in great ventures such as Community Renewal and blue Zones Project and is working to create the healthiest city in Oklahoma. In a part of the country where the food culture and walkability have much to be desired, Shawnee is changing the trend and progressively becoming a place where people, both young and old want to live, raise their family and run their business.
Shawnee has now been deemed the most dangerous city in Oklahoma. All I can say is: We did it boys. 👏👏👏👏
It's a small town with kind people but I would like to see more entertainment places, it's mostly food related businesses around and that's it.
Small town living, big town life. Shawnee is a great place to live and visit. Yes, we have big box stores, but home town business that bring charm.
Shawnee is a smaller city within good distance to OKC. There’s a lot of smaller parks to take children to. There’s a good downtown area. They usually have neat attractions several times a year downtown. Overall a nice city.
Shawnee is a very home-y town! It's very clean and the people are friendly. It's home to a wonderful university, and the feel of the area is rich with native history.
Too many meth heads. On the south side of town you will see them riding bikes carelessly and digging through trash cans and tweaking. Lived here all my life 42 years and this is the worst I have seen this town Don't waste your time moving here move to Arkansas where the education is way better than any school in Oklahoma.
My experience in Shawnee has been good. Shawnee has many native american tribes that are proud of their culture. The tribe I work for and am a member of, have shown they are good humanitarians. The tribe has invested money into the local schools plus the community. New places and activities are now available to the youth to try to guide them into productive citizens. It has been beneficial to my son.
Shawnee is a place that loves college students. And the people are really nice. I didn't grow up here, so I was a stranger before I moved to OBU dorms. There are plenty of places to eat, shop, and find things to do. When my family comes to visit, they like it as well. Everyone makes you feel like part of the family here. As in every town or city, there are some people that just don't like strangers. And Shawnee is no different. But there are only a few of that type of people here. I am so glad I chose Shawnee, and Oklahoma Baptist University.
It's my hometown so of course I'm going to see it through rose tinted glasses. I grew up there, went through all my schooling there, and still visit on the weekends. So trust me when I say Shawnee isn't perfect. We have a staggering homeless population downtown that I'd see when I went to the public library. We have roadwork that can last for years killing out businesses due to inaccessibility. Yet amongst the terrible government work there's a real heart to the town. We have Hamburger King right next to the aforementioned library whose burgers and wedge fries are to die for. We're the home of the first Sonic. We have a giant mill that you can see (and smell) for miles. I truly believe that anyone who grows up in this town will have an experience like no other.
It has a city feeling without being too big. I have lived here my whole life. I like that it has everything you need like supermarkets and many restaurants.
A great town that is growing with people and businesses. From mom and pop places to chain restaurants, there is something for everyone here. Bigger city amenities with a smaller town feel.
