Shallotte is a small town in a very rural county. The area beaches are fabulous - everything else not so much. The population is composed of numerous educated, affluent retirees from NJ-NY-CT along with numerous high-school educated working-poor locals. Crime and associated Drug abuse is a major issue down here with opiods / heroin among the locals. The major employers are retail - Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and similar firms. Weather is often nice - its always humid with long, warm summers and brief, mild winters.

I was very apprehensive about moving to this town because I had lived in a city that had every resource available to you within a 5-10 mile radius, and Shallotte is the exact opposite of that. Even though there isn't much around in this town yet, it is very up-and-coming and they are really trying to push to make the town a stop between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. The people here are some of the nicest you'll meet, with genuine southern hospitality and good mannered people. A plus about this town is you can have access to the beach without living in a big party area, but still get some family time and able to go out.
Shallotte is a small town, a very diverse and helpful community. Even though Shallotte is a small town it has a very big business opportunity from job employment to those offering a career. It was very peaceful scenery to those that need a calming minute to relax their mind.
