I've lived in Shaler for about 7 years now, and I've had great experiences besides the public schooling. When I was in the Shaler school district in elementary school, I didn't feel as if the school or the teachers cared about how I was doing mentally or academically. I'm glad I left the school district and that my experience with other Shaler residents has not reflected my experience there. I've met many great people in Shaler, especially at the public library. The city of Pittsburgh is great, but downtown can feel very suffocating. The size of Shaler is a lot of what contributes to the joy of living here. It's a perfect medium, and it allows for a lot of relaxed socialization, whereas the city kind of pressures you to know people. I will always feel comfortable here in Shaler.

Shaler Township has a lot to offer. For example, our parks are phenomenal, and have a community pool (Kiwanis). Furthermore, our school district is excellent and deeply involved into our community. Love it here!
Safe, affordable, well kept school district. Many families have lived in the area for multiple generations. Close to town, Hartwood Acres and everything the North Hills has to offer. Great community with great schools.
