The whole town is rundown and needs updating. They need to bring in new businesses and restaurants! They charge so much for renting spaces downtown that no one can afford to most businesses in in the first place. There are too many drugs operations and unsafe areas. Many times I feel unsafe at the gas stations around town. There are only a handful of restaurants in town and most of them aren't very good. Unfortunately most of the places to get food are fast food. One of the few good things about this town is Trinity Lutheran, the Private Christian High School.

There are smaller towns with less to offer, but seriously need more restaurants and shops—and with more diversity. It’s hard for avtown to grow—in positive ways—when all you have to offer is Walmart, Big Lots and pizza joints!
Home town of John Mellencamp, Seymour is a quaint little town with a population of about 19,480. There is an annual well-known German festival known as Oktoberfest starting on the first Thursday of October and ending on Saturday with a parade in the morning. Public school academics depend on the teachers and the district.
This township/town is more somewhere between moderate and conservative.
