I'm a student (HS) here in Selinsgrove, and I've really enjoyed living here. The downtown is really beautiful and there is a lot of history. I love how near we are from the river. The town holds a lot of fun events throughout the year to do (although it is pretty quiet for the most part). The schools are great and there's a lot of spirit in the town. It's definitely better than some towns in the area.

Though there are many downsides to living here. I'm an openly bisexual woman and have not felt welcomed by the majority of the town and have been called F*g a few times. But it's a lot more accepting then other communities in the area. It's also a very christian area, which is why I also felt ostracized as an atheist by my family and neighbors. A lot of the people here have trouble I guess accepting people who aren't like them. There is very little diversity. Mostly white people. Otherwise, I feel like most of the diversity around here comes from the College.

The school district is wonderful. Small town that is positive, and just a few hours away from many tourist sites such as Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, NYC, and Philadelphia. The people are pleasant to be around; it is a great place to grow a family and have friends. There are many restaurants, retail stores, and activities to do with Market Street and The Strip (11 and 15). The cost to live here is affordable and comfortable.
Selinsgrove is a wonderful town to live in. They have a great school system with caring teachers and helpers. The school personal are supportive and encouraging. In town there is so much to do everything from stores, parks, restaurants, and library within walking distance. There is a mall and movie theater really close to town. I have been raised in Selinsgrove and work in a nearby town with my family. This town has several churches, one of which we attend and is full of great , caring people. This town would be the best town to raise a family in.
