Current Resident: There are various places in our community that offer activities and family friendly options. Our local library is updated with the newest technology, environment-friendly and offers events to all ages. There are plenty of restaurants located within the city which cover all types of cultures. Growth seems to be continuing onward with the school systems reaching extraordinary numbers. Traffic patterns are in need of work due to the influx of commuters into the city. Current Resident: Mountain Brook is a very beautiful part of town with lots of hills and greenery. Current Resident: A diverse community with plenty of things to do and multiple parks and recreational activities. The restaurants in and around Alabaster are also fantastic. One downside is that rent is quite high, even for smaller apartments, but it is well worth the money. The schooling has also been great. Current Resident: Morris is a very connected and welcoming community for all of its inhabitants. It's quiet and safe, and manages to provide an overall "cozy" feeling. It's not uncommon to go somewhere and meet friends, or even family, while out on a daily commute. Quiet means there isn't much traffic or crime to be concerned about, but that also means the nightlife doesn't have much of a presence either. Former Resident: I have lived here for my whole life and have seen a few changes along the way. They built a Walmart with shops connected including Dollar Tree, several restaurants, a gym, a soccer compound, Taco Bell, Zaxby's, two gas stations, a hair salon, Verizon store, and a KFC's. The expansion of the town has grown a lot and even made a town playground and summer pool park for the children to go to on a hot day. Former Resident: A community reflects the character and the effort of the people who live, work, are educated, and play in the area. Hueytown is incorporated, so residents get services from the city as well as the county and state. New schools! Beautiful and well kept. This kind of pride is desirable…not the pride of one individual over others. Hueytown is more diverse than it’s ever been, and with that diversity comes strength. The Chamber of Commerce has instilled another kind of desirable pride in the community. Individual businesses can thrive in Hueytown. The coalition of businesses and residents serve together in parades, sporting events, retail openings, and city decorations / improvements. Youth serve alongside older volunteers, and the spirit of giving back prevails. The city and its residents can thank the Chamber leaders for their energy in making the city clean, current, consumer friendly, and cooperative. Current Resident: I have been living in Pleasant Grove, Alabama for 26 years. I was born and raised here. The community is very quiet, serving as a quick commute downtown. The school system could use improvements, but private schools are a quality option. Pleasant Grove is not designed to be a busy area, providing more of a safe haven of those seeking to escape the business of Birmingham. Crime is lower than more of your bigger towns and suburbs. The police department is great and do a phenomenal job of providing a sense of security. I am not familiar with much theft, but for those mostly affected was due to someone they knew.
