Visitor: This location is great for those who work downtown and don't want a long commute. It is close to everything; restaurants, stores, downtown on Seattle waterfront. Current Resident: I grew up in Redmond and it’s a great place to live if you can afford it (it’s not uncommon to be surrounded by Teslas on the roads). It’s growing up more now with new apartment buildings going in, but there’s still not much to do in the city itself. That’s okay though, it’s surrounded by nature, other great cities like Kirkland, Woodinville, and Bellevue, and is only 20 mins from Seattle. It’s also super diverse, over 60% of students in the school district are non-white. There are tons of Indian and Asian people who work at Microsoft and Amazon, I sometimes feel like a minority as a white person, but I love all the different cultures. My only qualm is how liberal it is, I’m conservative and definitely don’t feel safe expressing my views because people can be pretty hateful. Also, the Seattle freeze is real and it’s really hard for newcomers to make friends. But overall, it’s a really lovely place to live!... Read 115 reviews

Current Resident: What is so great about this neighborhood is that it is generally quiet and it feels safe. There is some property crime like anywhere else in Seattle. People move here for the schools, but that is shortchanging the neighborhood. Million$+ houses mixed with apartments and condos. There are 2 bike trails, transit, Fisherman's Terminal nearby, wonderful Discovery Park, the Ballard Locks, fun pubs, breweries, restaurants and lots of great grocery stores nearby. Someone can live in peace and quiet and be just a few minutes away from Belltown, Ballard, Queen Anne, Fremont, and other lively (and noisy) areas. Beautiful views and entertainment are so close by! Current Resident: I like the neighborhood feel being so close to the city. It's on a weird divide between a very affluent and an underserved area, so there are a lot of people with very different backgrounds all in the same place. While it's super close to a lot of things & has great direct routes downtown, to the transit station, & to the u district, bus service to some areas (cap hill/pike-pine/broadway) could be improved.... Current Resident: Upper Queen Anne is a very beautiful part of Seattle - there are a lot of privileged schools and scenic parks. Houses are generally well maintained, and although pricey, would be a good area to raise a family. That being said, there is also a pretentious side to the area and it is very white. Current Resident: Issaquah is such a vibrant and connected community! Everyone is super friendly, and there are so many ways to connect with the people you live around such as monthly activities at Blakely Hall that cater to all ages and interests or volunteering at events such as Salmon Days. There are many wonderful parks that are well-kept and are great open places to hang out with friends, family, and pets. As a person of color, I have never once felt unsafe or unrepresented in Issaquah and our HY Board and local schools make sure to have culture fairs and other activities that celebrate all cultures and also serve as a learning experience for our entire community. Grand Ridge Plaza is my favorite part about living in Issaquah- there are so many restaurants, shops, and even a movie theatre all within walking distance- it's really easy to end up spending a whole day there! Current Resident: Sammamish is a beautiful, small town with a diverse population. It's a place I've called home since I was little, and I've loved the warm, welcoming environment Sammamish has created. There's tons of community and love in this small suburb. I liked Sammamish for being about 20 minutes away from everything. You can live in a nice, quiet, peaceful home, and be in the loud city 20 minutes later. I've made my closest friends here and wouldn't trade them for the world. It's so fun having so much nature around me. Going to the lake is one of the best things to do in Sammamish, as the lake looks beautiful all year round. Current Resident: I've lived on The edge of Bryant neighborhood for 6 years on 35th Ave NE at NE 65th. I've felt no fear of crime here 96% the time. I feel comfortable walking the blocks with or without my large now senior dog. The bus has become more frequent over the years & runs later. There's diversity of people yet it feels very white bread & even uptight in ways. The nearest store's selection reflects my observation. There's next to nothing as far as nightlife here. However it's a great central location for the city including the neighboring North end cities of Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Shoreline & Bothell and the Kirkland, Juanita and Bellevue communities & Lake Washington if you have transportation all are within quick access. University Village shopping center is close and probably where I find the most social opportunities & diversity of people, food & fashions nearby. Current Resident: I've lived here since I was three. My house is a few blocks from Magnuson Park, which was an excellent bike ride when I was just learning how to. I babysit in the neighborhood, and have multiple families that I work for within walking distance of my house. Current Resident: Our small town is only 20 minutes from downtown Seattle. We have amazing access to local trails and outdoor activities, literally right out our front door. But we have quick access to all that Seattle has to offer and to Seattle-Tacoma International airport for travel near and far. Our community is full of friendly and helpful neighbors, and people are always out walking their dogs or attending their children's sporting events. Current Resident: This is an amazing area. The natural beauty is prevalent everywhere you go with seas of green trees, lakes of blue serenity, and mountainous horizons. I was raised here and am grateful for the plentiful opportunities it has provided me. The public schools schools are very nurturing of students and their creativity. The only downside is its lack of diversity, primarily racial and economically. Current Resident: I currently reside in Blue Ridge, and I absolutely love where I live! Ever since I moved to the neighborhood, my life has been colored by the magic and warmth of the community. I am lucky to live in a such a safe and inclusive environment, and to be so tightly interconnected with my fellow neighbors! From the refreshing pools to the enchanting beaches, Blue Ridge has an extensive range of neighborhood recreation for everyone! For me, the best part of living in Blue Ridge has undoubtedly been being on the summer swim team. Over the past few years, I've formed very close bonds with my teammates and coaches, and I've even made some of my best friends! I treasure the supportive, team-oriented environment that Blue Ridge creates, as it has allowed me to grow both as an individual and as an athlete. Current Resident: I've lived in the Seward Park area now for 5 years. We live very near the park. There is a good mix of new residents as well as some that have been here most of their adult lives. Homes tend towards a mix of properties built between 1920 and 1970. Many have been renovated or restored. Getting to the downtown area is fairly efficient with the 50 bus having 2 stops along the light rail. Columbia City/Hillman are within walking distance and there is a good mix of restaurants and retail. The proximity to the park is great, particularly during the summer months. While some worry about night time crime, I can say that I or my wife walk our dogs every evening, often after dark and have never had any issues. The biggest problem is usually in the summer months when area becomes crowded with cars cruising Lake Washington Blvd or filling every parking spot near the park. Many drivers ignore stop signs, several pedestrians have been struck. Schools are good and dog park near by.... Read 7 reviews
