Niche User: DeWitt is a great small town that takes pride in its beautiful parks and its safety. With excellent nature trails and an old fashioned main street it is hard to resist the homey feeling you get anywhere in town. The residents are all so friendly and always willing to help out their neighbors. There are some historical aspects like the DeWitt Opera house, the historical museum, and the fact it's the birthplace of John Bloom. Along with the historical sites are many great new additions to the town. There are great new restaurants including Hall of Fame and Mezcal, as well as an amazing family-owned Chinese restaurant. Most of the business here in DeWitt are locally owned and greatly supported by residents. I see a bright future for DeWitt, especially with the high school. A few years ago the high school added two new gymnasiums, an auditorium, a high quality weight room, and redid the baseball and softball fields. Along with the new addition to the building, there is also a large amount of college courses offered giving students a great head start in furthering their education. While DeWitt is an amazing town there are a couple downfalls. The town is about 20-30 minutes away from big cities so many people commute to work, and property taxes are high. Overall I think DeWitt is a great town to live and raise a family.
