Current Resident: Mercer Island is a pretty nice Island. When I came in summer 2019 everything was new for me and I was surprised on how nice everyone is here. I'm originally from Germany. Other than from where I come from the people in the Neighborhood in Mercer island make you feel like you are a part of a community Family which I really like. The streets are all nice and clean. In every store you go into, you get welcomed and treated so good. It still amazes me every time I walk into a store on how happy and friendly everyone is.... Read 52 reviews

Parent: Loudoun Country Day School's program for PK-8 children is superb! My three children graduated some years ago and they were completely prepared for the next steps in their educational development. The teachers, staff and coaches are delightful and the environment is one that allows for the necessary exploration and progress of the children. I would do it all over again!... Read 8 reviews

Town in Washington
Current Resident: I grew up in Redmond and it’s a great place to live if you can afford it (it’s not uncommon to be surrounded by Teslas on the roads). It’s growing up more now with new apartment buildings going in, but there’s still not much to do in the city itself. That’s okay though, it’s surrounded by nature, other great cities like Kirkland, Woodinville, and Bellevue, and is only 20 mins from Seattle. It’s also super diverse, over 60% of students in the school district are non-white. There are tons of Indian and Asian people who work at Microsoft and Amazon, I sometimes feel like a minority as a white person, but I love all the different cultures. My only qualm is how liberal it is, I’m conservative and definitely don’t feel safe expressing my views because people can be pretty hateful. Also, the Seattle freeze is real and it’s really hard for newcomers to make friends. But overall, it’s a really lovely place to live!... Read 112 reviews

City in Washington
Current Resident: Bellevue is a wonderfully safe city with well funded private schools that offer academic rigor. It is a very racially diverse city and is home to major companies such as Microsoft which offer many job opportunities. It has a very active city life during the day and has many restaurants with diverse menus, as well as large shopping malls. The city offers Metro transportation buses that are completely electric fueled, however buses are very often subject to late arrivals. Despite its good qualities, Bellevue is a very expensive city to live in with the average house costing 1.5 million. Goods and services are also very overpriced, and have risen sharply due to inflation.... Read 184 reviews

Current Resident: Issaquah is such a vibrant and connected community! Everyone is super friendly, and there are so many ways to connect with the people you live around such as monthly activities at Blakely Hall that cater to all ages and interests or volunteering at events such as Salmon Days. There are many wonderful parks that are well-kept and are great open places to hang out with friends, family, and pets. As a person of color, I have never once felt unsafe or unrepresented in Issaquah and our HY Board and local schools make sure to have culture fairs and other activities that celebrate all cultures and also serve as a learning experience for our entire community. Grand Ridge Plaza is my favorite part about living in Issaquah- there are so many restaurants, shops, and even a movie theatre all within walking distance- it's really easy to end up spending a whole day there! Overall I have had a wonderful experience in Issaquah and would definitely recommend this area to others as well!... Read 97 reviews

Current Resident: Bainbridge Island is a great place to live! The education here is above expectations - especially the public schools. Food here could be improved, but poulsbo supplies additional options. The downside is frankly the Bainbridge islanders Facebook page - people with too much time on their hands! But otherwise I’m very happy to have chosen this place to live. So many extracurricular activities here, well maintained roads, city planned events (such as the Fourth of July parade!), etc.... Niche User: Woodinville is one of the most safe places to grow up and live. I have lived here my entire life and the most crime I have been around was a couple of string robberies in my area (but it was taken care of quickly). Current Resident: I have lived in Woodinville for my whole life, having gone through the school system I am very pleased, I went to elementary school at East Ridge, Middle School at Timbercrest and High School at Woodinville. Woodinville is a comfortable suburb for those who want to be close to the city but not live inside of it. There is a substantial amount of night life because of the widespread wine tasting. There are a ton of neighborhoods for children and they are very safe. Overall I would highly recommend Woodinville.... Read 64 reviews

Current Resident: Being a resident, what I love about Renton are my neighbors. Of course, not all of them are friendly, but everyone has their flaws. Speaking of flaws, the reason why I didn't give my experience a 5/5 is because sometimes I have my doubts about the school system. The diversity is terrible in staff, better in students, and the education from what I experienced has been great and made me look forward to some classes. But really, my main problem is diversity.... Recently there has been a lot of apartment construction which I don’t love but that’s the reality of many cities right now especially north of Seattle. I love how friendly everyone is. The city has a Facebook page where you can see how much people care for one another! Also have some great food in Bothell and surrounding areas. Current Resident: Kenmore is a small city north of Seattle on the north end of Lake Washington. It's conveniently located between 405 an I5 so has great access to airports, Seattle, skiing, beaches, and the surrounding area. The Northshore School District is very good, and the local public high school, Inglemoor, is one of only a few IB schools in the state. It has a great student body, solid academic reputation, and boasts a successful crew team which is only one a few public high schools in the state to have one. The City has put a lot of resources towards the development of public parks and water access to the Lake. Overall a nice place to live, although the downtown area needs some aesthetic improvements and public transportation is currently limited to buses, with the nearest lightrail station about 12 mins away in Northgate.... Current Resident: If you're from a large city like me, Pullman might take some getting used to. However, for those who are open minded enough to get to know the town and its people, Pullman is a welcoming, supportive community united by it's WSU Cougar Pride. After living here three years, both during the school year and when the town empties out over the summer and the locals come out of hiding, I've found that the people here are incredibly kind hearted and would do anything to help a fellow Coug in need. While Palouse winters can be dreary, in the spring time, the rolling wheatfields turn a brilliant shade of lime green, followed not long after by blooming purple and yellow flowers, turning the Palouse into an unreal, ethereal landscape. While transitioning from tree-studded Western Washington was definitely challenging, I've come to believe that the Palouse is just as beautiful as you choose to see it.... Read 254 reviews

Current Resident: This is an amazing area. The natural beauty is prevalent everywhere you go with seas of green trees, lakes of blue serenity, and mountainous horizons. I was raised here and am grateful for the plentiful opportunities it has provided me. The public schools schools are very nurturing of students and their creativity. The only thing that makes me sad is when there are areas where trees once stood now being taken out for homes. If I could do it all over again I would live here again because we live out in the country where there isn't too much action and we live on a fairly large piece of land. Parent: We switched to Sheridan during the pandemic joining a small community that focused on the safety of our children while limiting the disruption to their education. The administration did a stellar job. What truly stands out is how well rounded a Sheridan education is. In addition to the more traditional academics, its arts and music instruction as well as its focus on diverse communities through the student clubs is truly exceptional. We chose a K-8 school because of the added focus on the middle school years which can be difficult transition years. As the school skews young the older kids don’t grow up too fast. This is a gentle school. Middle school students mentor the lower school students. My son loves his mentor and he looks forward to becoming a mentor to a lower school student himself. Finally, Sheridan is a school that builds confidence. In 7th grade, students lead their own high school selection under the guidance of their teachers. This is incredibly empowering!... Senior: Madeira's mission of "launching women who change the world" guides every aspect of this unique educational experience. I am extremely grateful for my education and appreciate the environment Madeira fosters to make every student thrive. From small, personalized class with the modular schedule, to a tight community of both students and faculty, to worldly experiences, Madeira prepares us for the future that we will inherit. Of particular note is the Co-Curriculum program that gives us real world experiences each year -- something that a teenager cannot find anywhere else. It is extremely impressive to be able to go to a college interview or job interview and say you have worked on Capitol Hill! I think Madeira is made up of small moments - traditions, laughing in the library, baking with your teachers - that become impactful, life-changing moments at such a pivotal age. This personal attention gives us the confidence and the leadership skills to take on any issue. Life changing!... Read 100 reviews
