Current Resident: We came to Lakeville for the public school's because they are highly rated. Having a child who needs extra help and support we thought this was a good fit. Unfortunately our experience over the last few years with a child in special education transitioning though a middle school, an alternative school and a high school have been, exhausting. Staff seems overwhelmed because communication is severely lacking in times when it should be a priority and the patience and professionalism just isn't there. A few good teachers/staff do exist amongst the rest and they do what they can but it's personally not enough for us to recommend Lakeville for its education. Current Resident: I have had an amazing experience and have created such great bonds with lifelong friends, families, teachers, and youth. Our town is about a mile long. With that being said we have a huge sense of community here. As a kid up until I turned 18, I have loved going to all the events, being able to walk everywhere, and no matter where you are, you are bound to see someone you know. There is such a huge comfort in knowing there are so many people cheering you on and supporting you. When it came to sporting events, so many familiar faces were there to volunteer or cheer us on. For me personally, there was more room for me to grow and explore when I didn't have to worry about making friends or being in uncomfortable situations. Since nothing is perfect, there are definitely things I would like to see change in. For example, the school administration has been through 5 principles in the last decade. I had this notion that there was no culture in small towns because they were isolated from the rest of the world, but I was ever so wrong. Sure, the closest mall is a half an hour drive, and downtown is an hour, but I wouldn't pass anything up for the experience and close knit community that exists.
